"Hello, IT"
A downloadable game for Windows
This game originated from Global Game Jam 2018, where the theme was "Transmission", and I figured I'd make a game about transmitting data through network devices and cables, since I do work as an IT.
I decided to develop on it as my University class project.
There are A LOT of things missing, like levels and tutorials on how to play the game (And a lot of bugs, Timon and Pumba wouldn't finish eating them).
I have Windows and Linux versions available. I haven't tested the Linux version yet, so please let me know if there's any problem with it.
Because of lack of tutorials, maybe this would help:
- To connect a wire, click and hold left click on any socket, drag the wire to the destination socket, then release the mouse button.
- To disconnect a wire, right click on any of its sockets.
- You can see servers information by clicking on their "Info button", to know IP Addresses and ports.
- You have to set up routing rules to deliver packets accordingly, by clicking on "Config" button on each router.
- If you ran out of sockets in a router, you can buy a new router and daisy-chain them.
- The initial level is 5 minutes long.
- You get money for each successful packet transmitted.
- You get a bonus after every day based on your success rate of packets transmission.
- Every once in a while, a hacker would spawn. You have to scan for it by clicking the "Scan" button on the right, then based on proximity beeps, you have to click to find it.
- To defeat the hacker, you have to click on "Smack" button to switch to fly swatter and smack the hacker.
- If you fail to defeat the hacker, you lose some of your money.
